This is Endless’ take on renaissance paintings from the 17th and 18th Century where Cherubs were often depicted in classical art as a symbol of peace, playfulness and innocence. The piece entails two Endless Cherubs carrying his iconic Chapel bottle, which is his take on the classic Chanel perfume and comments on modern society’s worship of brands and luxury goods. The image itself combines stencil and free hand painting. This causes a juxtaposition between the neat and chaotic lines, resulting in a weathered and distorted aesthetic, representing the history of the cherub itself. This weathered style has been contrasted with the use of modern vibrancy, drawing the eye of the viewer ever closer.
